The Coral Outlet is taking a unique direction in
marine aquatic retail.
Coral is a living animal that becomes unstable through transit and acclimation into new environments. We at The Coral Outlet are trying to minimize the shock and discomfort these precious animals go through. The Coral Outlet holds very little of the coral being offered in our facility. We work with local wholesalers in our area to sell what is immediately available. The corals you purchase through The Coral Outlet will be hand picked from the wholesaler and packaged for shipping at the wholesaler's facility. The advantages of this are immense.
One such advantage, our quality control is undeniably better. As we hand pick your order from multiple like corals, we will have the ability to pick the very best specimen for you. The best looking as well as the strongest animal that is available. If our wholesalers only have one specimen matching your order and if that specimen doesn't look healthy or strong, we simply will not fill that order. This may make you unhappy and I apologize in advance, but we will not ship an animal that clearly isn't healthy. We too are hobbyists and would rather face the disappointment of not being able to purchase a piece of coral over receiving a piece that is clearly of poor quality or in poor health.
Another issues that typical retailers must face is unhealthy stock sitting in their tanks. These pieces either get slipped out the door to unexpected customers or they get exterminated and the cost of those items gets spread among the cost of the corals they sell. All other retailers are forced to increase their prices in order to offset a multiple of expenses like DOA corals, electricity for lights & pumps, water cost, and salt cost, to name just a few.
The only corals that we ever hold are very unique pieces that are in very limited supply. These pieces we buy immediately simply because the opportunity for that coral is rare.
